Best Golf Courses to Play – Elkhart County

elkhart county golf courses

Elkhart County is home to many unique and challenging golf courses with both private and public options.

Terrain wise these Elkhart County golf courses range from wooded golf courses to links style to in between with scenic views, ponds, and nature.

In this review below we will share details about the popular Elkhart golf courses including where they are located, cost to play 9 holes and 18 holes and a little history about each golf course.

Most of the golf courses offer memberships if you’d like to join the club and play unlimited golf for a yearly member’s fee. This can be a great option for you to save some money if you play golf frequently.

Some of the golf courses have driving ranges and practice greens while others may not. So if practice is important to you, keep this in mind when choosing where to go for a day of golf.

Let’s dive in and review the following Elkhart golf courses:

Bent Oak (Public Golf Course)

Bent Oak is an 18 hole golf course established in 1985. The champion blue tees play 6,500 yards, the men’s white tees play 6,243 yards, the gold senior tees play 5,481, and the women’s red tees play 5,360 yards. Bent oak also offers a pro shop with equipment and apparel. The golf pro offers swing lessons as well if you want to tune up your game on their driving range. Bent Oak’s restaurant offers food at the turn, or you can stop in after your round of golf for bar snacks or full sit down meals in the dining room.

Maplecrest (Public Golf Course)

Maplecrest is another great option for playing golf in Elkhart County. Located in Goshen, Maple Crest offers a full 18 holes of golf with their longest tees (black) playing 6,341 yards. The middle tees play 6,069 yards and their forward tees play 5,393 yards. The golf course is a par 71.

Maplecrest offers memberships or you can come out and play single rounds of golf as a non-member since it’s a public golf course. Fees vary for walking vs cart but they’re fairly affordable.

Black Squirrel (Public Golf Course)

Black Squirrel is a fun golf course to play on the south side of Goshen, Indiana. It got it’s start in 1988 and has become a popular course many locals play. If you’re lucky, you may find homes that come for sale on the golf course to purchase one and have golf in your backyard.

The golf course is public and offers 18 holes of golf, a practice putting green, but no driving range. Rates range from $20 to $46 depending on if you walk or ride cart for 18 holes. A single membership costs $500 for the season if you live locally and plan to play often at Black Squirrel Golf Course.

Elcona (Private Golf Course)

Elcona is one of the few exclusively private golf courses in the area. A membership to Elcona Country Club is quite expensive but the golf course is one of the nicest in Elkhart County. Their practice facility is top level and the quality of the greens on the course are hard to top compared to the nearby public golf courses. To play Elcona, you need to be invited on by a member. Or you can purchase a membership. The course was started in 1956 by William Diddle.

Being a country club, you’ll have access to their outdoor swimming pool, their fitness facility, and fine dining in their multiple restaurants. Elcona Country Club is also a great destination for hosting a wedding if you know anyone looking for Elkhart County wedding venues.

Meadow Valley (Public Golf Course)

Located in Middlebury, Indiana, Meadow Valley Golf Course is a fun destination to stop through for 18 holes of golf. They have a links style golf course that is pretty wide open for the most part with tall fescue grass but you may encounter the wooded parts of the course briefly as well. The wind will play a factor during your round of golf, as it does on most links style golf courses.

Meadow Valley offers a driving range and practice area for chipping and putting. Rates are pretty affordable for 18 holes with a cart but you also have the option of walking the golf course to save a little money too.

It’s very well maintained and it’s nestled in the sweet little town of Middlebury, known as Amish Country in Elkhart County. It’s a hidden gem of a golf course that is definitely worth stopping at for a round of golf.

Raber (Public Golf Course)

Nestled in the rolling hills of Bristol, IN, Raber is another public golf course in Elkhart County, known for it’s straight and narrow golf holes. In our opinion this is one of the easier golf courses to play in Elkhart score wise, but it falls further down the rankings for overall quality. However, it does offer cheaper golf rates to compensate for it’s lack of beauty and difficulty. It’s still a great option to get out and play some golf with friends if you want an easy golf course to build your confidence!

Parmore Golf Course

Parmore is a hidden golf course down in New Paris, Indiana that not many locals of Elkhart County know about since it’s further away from the rest of the golf courses. But it’s still a great course to play some golf with 18 holes and a driving range.

Elkhart also has Nick’s Golf Center which is an outdoor driving range that features a 300 yard range and grass or fake turf hitting mats. They also offer heated swing bays for winter practice as well. Inside Nick’s Golf Center is equipment, clothing, shoes, and other golf accessories available for purchase.
